Select texts that allow each reader to be successful (Allington, 2009).
To improve fluency means to improve comprehension (Block & Parris, 2008).

Strategies to incorporate Authentic texts
- Encourage students to rehearse plays, poems, songs and speeches.
- Utilise resources like 'Readers Theatre’
- Incorporate Tape, Check, Chart (Allington, 2006).
- Select authentic texts that are of interest to individuals; students need to be able to see the bigger picture
- Reconsider time allocations in class: Repeated reading vs. Independent reading (Allington, 2009).
